Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Disco (outtakes ‘75-’79)
John over at Save Your Face has done some deep digging into the murkier corners of the Rolling Stones bootleg discography to create a pretty damn great mix of the band’s weirdo flirtations with disco. Some of it is pretty convincing, some of it less so – but it’s all super cool. The relentless repetition and Jagger’s often-ad-libbed vocals almost make me think of Suzuki-era Can at times. Of all things! And I don’t know if it’s necessarily disco, but the beguiling original version of “Heaven” here is a truly unique slice of spacey mellow dub Stones. Thanks, John!
